SNP should be working on more powers, not face saving exercise - Scott

12.01.31am GMT Wed 25th Feb 2009

Commenting on the Scottish Government’s paper outlining the case for fiscal autonomy in Scotland, leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats Tavish Scott MSPTavish Scott MSP said:

“This is a face saving exercise. The SNP knows that their previous case for independence now looks like economic suicide.

“So, they need to stop the National Conversation they are only having with themselves and work with others.

“The Government has spent its time trying to disguise and rename independence. It should be putting forward real proposals to work with other parties, through Calman, to give the Parliament more powers to support the Scottish economy.”
