Purvis: unemployment figure must be reversed in Scotland

5.49.40pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 14th Jul 2010

Commenting on the news that while unemployment as a whole fell in the UK but continued to grow in Scotland, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP

“These unemployment figures again highlight the real impact of the devastating impact of the recession on people in Scotland.

“It is hugely concerning that while the UK figures continue to fall; joblessness in Scotland continues to grow. This continued rise must be reversed.

“It is concerning that there doesn’t seem to be an SNP Government policy on employment in the devolved economy. This needs to be addressed urgently.”
